Freight Car Vertical Wheel Brake
Models 31000, 31000-2, 31000-6 These conventional Group N handbrakes are designed for standard freight cars featuring a two way wheel. Turning the wheel clockwise sets the brake and rotating counter clockwise releases it. Any amount of setting or releasing can be attained, governed by the wheel's travel position. Model 31000 (short trip lever) and 31000-2 (long trip lever) can be fully and instantly released by the trip lever. Model 31000-6 is designed for a gradual release only. All models have a pressed steel housing and a 22 inch pressed steel shallow (AAR standard #2) hand wheel.
Models 33000, 33000-2 Ellcon makes intermediate power Group O hand brakes, designed primarily for use on freight cars requiring a higher force than provided by standard AAR approved conventional hand brakes. Model 33000 (short trip lever) and Model 33000-2 (long trip lever) have both quick and gradual release. A shock retarding device serves as a chain anchor. Both models are constructed of pressed steel housings and a 22 inch pressed steel shallow (AAR standard #2) hand wheel.
Models 35000, 35000-2 Ellcon-National’s high power Group P handbrakes are designed primarily for use on freight cars requiring a higher force than provided by standard AAR approved intermediate hand brakes.
